O Elvas: A success story built on solid strategic planning

Founded on February 7, 2024, O Elvas Futebol SAD marked a historic turning point in professional football in Alentejo, thanks to meticulous and visionary strategic planning.

The effects of sports and strategic planning are reflected in exceptional sporting results

On the field, the results speak for themselves: 29 official matches played, with a record of 20 wins, 5 draws, and only 4 losses, with a goal difference of 44-21. These successes are the result of cohesive teamwork, careful talent selection, the creation of a dedicated and hardworking coaching staff, as well as overcoming numerous challenges. The first manager of O Elvas SAD, Gonçalo Piçarra, along with his team, faced and resolved every challenge with a spirit of growth and evolution, always focused on the O Elvas Next Generation project. From the very first moment, this team instilled a winning spirit within the group.

O Elvas has established itself as the undisputed leader of Serie C of the Campeonato de Portugal, with a 10-point lead over its closest competitors. Additionally, the team reached the quarter-finals of the Taça de Portugal for the first time in its history, eliminating prestigious opponents such as AD Marco 09, Torreense, Varzim, and Vitória SC.

Transformation and Professionalization

In just 365 days, O Elvas SAD has undergone a profound professionalization process across all areas of its sports structure, from the sporting sector to marketing, commercial, and administrative departments, integrating modern digital tools into its organization.

Passion and Community Engagement

The thrilling performances of all O Elvas football teams, from the youngest age groups to the senior champions, have ignited the passion of fans, who are increasingly engaged and participative. Families, grandparents, parents, sports enthusiasts, and veterans with rich memories of the club’s history create an electrifying atmosphere at the historic Patalino Stadium. A prime example was the unforgettable comeback against Vitória de Setúbal (2-1) on April 7, along with many other remarkable moments in this iconic venue of Elvas football.

An Ambitious Future

Backed by a solid and sustainable project, O Elvas SAD aims to reach the professional leagues in the medium term, establishing the club as a benchmark in football and sports for the entire Portalegre and Alto Alentejo district.

Success on All Fronts

The U-19 national team also had a historic year, securing three trophies: the inaugural tournament, the championship, and the AF Portalegre Cup, ensuring O Elvas’ return to the national stage and the II National Division in 2024/25. Meanwhile, the junior team reached the final stage of the first phase of the championship with a real chance to compete for promotion to the First Division.

Planning for the Upcoming Seasons

O Elvas Club: The youth development program of O Elvas Club has been a top priority for the SAD, providing continuous support in all areas from day one. The future lies in establishing a Talent Academy across all youth categories.

B Team / U-23: One of O Elvas SAD’s key objectives is the creation of a B Team/U-23 squad, enabling new teams to compete in their respective leagues in Portugal. This initiative aims to strengthen the club’s competitive structure and develop a pipeline of talent for the first team.

Redevelopment of Estádio Patalino

For O Elvas SAD, the vision is clear: renovating a historic landmark like Estádio Patalino is not enough; a strategic plan must support the club’s long-term growth. Unveiled in detail during the Blue and Gold Day event on December 12, the project includes the modernization and redevelopment of Patalino. The renovation work, which began on October 8, will transform the stadium into a state-of-the-art sports center, providing top-tier infrastructure to nurture young talent and drive the success of O Elvas’ football movement.

This investment will bridge the gap between Elvas and major urban centers, firmly placing the city on the national sports map.
