O Elvas Clube Alentejano de Desportos, Futebol SAD secured an important away victory today, defeating FC Alverca B by 1-3 in a ninth-round match of the Campeonato de Portugal. With a solid and efficient performance, the blue-and-gold team showcased their strength and clinched three points, keeping them isolated at the top of the Série C standings.

First Half: Penalty Goal and Elvas Dominance

The match began evenly, with both teams assessing the best opportunities to attack. However, in the 27th minute, César Medina opened the scoring for O Elvas, precisely converting a penalty after the Alverca goalkeeper fouled Desmond, giving the team an advantage and establishing a more favorable game rhythm. Close to halftime, in the 43rd minute, David Freire extended the lead, reinforcing the dominance of the Cavaleiros and leaving the opponent with a challenging situation for the second half.

Second Half: Lucão Extends Lead, but Elvas Misses Additional Opportunities

O Elvas entered the second half determined to increase their advantage further. Early on, Lucão had an excellent chance to score but missed the opportunity to make it 0-3. However, in the 54th minute, Lucão redeemed himself, scoring the third goal after intense pressure and with an assist from Desmond—effectively sealing the visitors’ victory.

Alverca B attempted to respond and, in the 66th minute, reduced the score through Tomás Lacerda, who exploited a gap in the defense to score. Even with the opponent’s goal and a questionable red card given to Lewis Enoh, O Elvas maintained control and secured the three points.

Coach Pedro Hipólito brought in additional players to strengthen O Elvas’s offensive power. With these substitutions, the team created even more opportunities and came close to achieving a fourth goal; however, despite these efforts, the score remained at 1-3.

Massive Support from Elvas Fans in Alverca

Alongside their excellent performance on the field, O Elvas enjoyed phenomenal support from fans who traveled in large numbers to Alverca. The Elvas contingent was so strong that the visitor’s section quickly filled, with some supporters having to watch the match from the bar beside the stadium’s fence. The energy and support from the stands were instrumental, as O Elvas fans, louder than the home team’s supporters, created an atmosphere of true celebration and unity.

Victory Solidifies O Elvas’s Lead

With this win, O Elvas stays isolated at the top of Série C in the Campeonato de Portugal, now with 22 points, while Sport Arronches e Benfica sits in second place with 16 points. The team continues to demonstrate a solid performance in the competition, maintaining a significant advantage over direct rivals.

The blue and gold team will return to action on November 24 at 18:00, competing in the fourth round of the Taça de Portugal against Varzim SC. Their next Campeonato de Portugal match will take place at home on November 30 at the Estádio Municipal de Atletismo de Elvas against CA Pêro Pinheiro.
