Mamadu Djaló and Desmond Nketia: 50 games in blue and gold

Elvas CAD celebrates two more players reaching the milestone of 50 games for the club. Mamadu Djaló and Desmond Nketia are now new members of the ’50 club,’ leaving their mark in the history of the blue and gold emblem.

Mamadu Djaló: A Pillar of Defense

The game against Peniche marked Mamadu Djaló’s 50th official appearance for Elvas. The 29-year-old luso-guinean central defender has been a key player for the team, always starting in the matches he has played.

Since joining the club in the summer of 2023, he has missed only one official match: the trip to the Algarve to face Moncarapachense (2-1) on October 8, 2023. In total, Djaló has accumulated 4,470 minutes of play, spread across 28 games in his first season and 22 games in the current one. His numbers speak for themselves: 27 wins, 16 draws, and only seven losses.

In addition to his defensive solidity, Mamadu Djaló has contributed five goals for the team, three of them in the current Serie C of the Campeonato de Portugal. As for discipline, he has an outstanding record, with just three yellow cards per season in the Campeonato de Portugal and two in the 2023/24 Taça de Portugal.

Desmond Nketia: Goal Scorer in Service

Ghanaian forward Desmond Nketia is set to join the exclusive group of players with 50 games for Elvas, potentially reaching that milestone as soon as this Sunday against Marinhense.

At 23 years old, Nketia is the team’s top scorer this season, with 9 goals – 6 in the Campeonato de Portugal and 3 in the Taça de Portugal. He was one of the standout figures in the historic elimination of Vitória SC, showcasing his decision-making ability in high-level matches.

The forward, who came through the youth ranks of Vilafranquense and has previously represented SC Ideal and Académica, is now in his second season at the club and has already surpassed his goal tally from his first season (8). In 49 games, he has accumulated 3,945 minutes of competition, with an impressive record of 27 wins, 16 draws, and only 6 losses.

This season, Nketia has missed just one match: the trip to Coimbra to face União 1919, which resulted in Elvas’ only defeat (0-2) in official competitions so far.

Two Players, One Story of Dedication

The journey of Mamadu Djaló and Desmond Nketia proves the value and consistency of these players, who have been fundamental to the success of Elvas CAD. Reaching the milestone of 50 games is an achievement that highlights their commitment and quality, reflecting the work done by the club.
May this be just the beginning of an even more glorious story with the blue and gold jersey!
